AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM

We do not currently have any after school programs running.

 

Spring  Session

HILLSIDE CLASSES OFFERED:     3.15-4.15   

NO CLASSES ON MONDAYS

TUESDAYS: (4/11, 4/18, 4/25, 5/9, 5/16, 5/23) – no class 5/2

Individual piano lessons (K through 8) 30 MINUTES – ONLY 3 SPOTS AVAILABLE Larry Goldstein, a professional musician for over 40 years has been teaching piano full time for the past 15 years. He has taught with ALEOOOP for the last 10 years. Mr. Goldstein specializes in teaching young children. He combines classical, jazz, and popular music to motivate. His goal is to instill a love of music (piano) in his students. First come first serve- Lesson times will be scheduled by the instructor . **lessons will only be held at Hillside School. Brookside students are responsible for getting to lesson** There is no care for your child before or after their lesson time. If they are scheduled for a 3:30 or 4:00 lesson they must be picked up from school and returned for their lesson time. (Unless they are already participating in the YMCA Aftercare program at Hillside).

Jewelry Making (K-3) Each week the students will learn the basics of jewelry making. They will create a piece each class using beads, charms, and other materials. We will be making projects including bracelets, necklaces, rings, and more! Projects will vary each session. 

Have a Ball (K-3) This season is all about energy and play! We’ll uncover Newton’s laws of physics as we create and test bouncy balls, marble roller coasters and more. After all, a ball is still the greatest toy of all!

Tennis (K-1 ONLY) Our multi-week Tennis program is ideal for players of all skill levels and is designed to refine a skill, achieve success, promote discovery through play and provide a pathway to Keep Playing!®Tennis players get ready to hit the courts by learning swing fundamentals for groundstrokes, volleys, serves, while also working on footwork and positioning. Coaches also keep students’ minds active with lessons on rules & etiquette, the history of the sport, and the life lessons of sportsmanship, perseverance, and leadership.

 

WEDNESDAYS: (4/12, 4/19, 4/26, 5/10, 5/17, 5/24) – no class 5/3 

Golf (K-3) We teach kids the game of golf through easy-to-understand concepts & interactive games that are fun and engaging. Using skill-based drills that can be done anywhere (indoors or outdoors, at school, or on the golf course), students develop the fundamentals, explore academic concepts through game play, and practice life skills — such as sportsmanship and respect 

JR Woodworking (K-3) Come join us as we have fun building and painting with wood! Each week we will start off learning about woodworking safety. Then we will sand, paint, and put together a new project. Past projects have included birdhouses, animal figures, wooden games, and much more! Projects will vary per session.

Shockingly Sticky Science (K-3) What makes your hair stand up? Is it a magnet or magic? And just what are carbs, anyway? Kids explore a variety of introductory topics about the wonders of both the life and physical sciences.

 

THURSDAYS: (4/13, 4/20, 4/27, 5/11, 5/18, 5/25) – no class 5/4 

Cheer (K-3) Our multi-week Cheer program is ideal for players of all skill levels and is designed to refine skill, achieve success, promote discovery through play and provide a pathway to Keep Playing!®Cheerleaders learn the basics of stunting, tumbling, performing, and choreography. On the final class, they will perform both a dance routine alongside a cheer. Coaches also keep students’ minds active with lessons on rules & etiquette, the history of the sport, and the life lessons of sportsmanship, perseverance, and leadership. 

Secrets of Magic (K-3) Discover the secrets to becoming a magicIan. Professional magician, Joe Fischer, take children behind the scenes to learn how magic is done. Each week 3-5 different magic tricks are taught which the children get to keep. Watch out Harry Potter, a new wizard is in town.

Circuits and Robotics(1 -3 only) This unique class combines elements of basic robotics with introductory circuitry. Students will learn basic circuitry using wires, batteries, lights, and more. Throughout the session they will build and engineer take home robots that move along with other new and exciting circuitry projects!

 

FRIDAYS: (4/14, 4/21, 4/28, 5/12, 5/19, 5/26) – no class 5/5

Brixology: Lego Based Program (K-3) BRIXOLOGY sets the foundation for our next generation of makers! Kids learn about different types of engineering and then team up to construct a different engineering themed project using LEGO® bricks. They explore mechanical engineering as they build boats and vehicles. That’s not all, from carnival rides to drawing machines, mechanical animals to truss bridges; your future engineer will build upon their creativity to solve real-world design challenges, while developing their problem-solving and team-building skills. Let the tinkering begin!

 

ALEOOOP After School

ALEOOOP After School program offers exciting 1-hour after school courses in the fall, winter and spring.  All courses are conveniently held at our schools.

The After School Program is an easy, safe way to introduce children to enriching opportunities right in Hillside and Brookside School.  An ALEOOOP onsite director manages the program. The session ALEOOOP brochure will list all course information.

ALEOOOP is a non-profit, quasi-municipal entity overseen by a volunteer board and has been serving Allendale for since 1995.
